It may have been one and done for Anthony Johnson at heavyweight, but if that’s the case, at least he came and left with a victory.

Johnson (15-4) won for the fifth straight time since his release from the UFC by taking a unanimous decision from former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski (19-10) in the main event of Saturday’s World Series of Fighting 2 event.

Johnson, who fought mostly at welterweight in the UFC, debuted with WSOF in November at light heavyweight. But for the chance to fight Arlovski, he bypassed a weight cut and took the bout at heavyweight, giving up about 15 pounds.

In the striking game, Johnson frequently was on the mark. Arlovski landed many counters of his own, but he needed to be saved by the bell in the first round after Johnson dropped him and looked on his way to a finish as the horn sounded. As the fight went on, though, Johnson frequently tried to take Arlovski down, usually to no avail while the two routinely were separated for a lack of action as Johnson held on to the position.

After the fight, Johnson said the fighters at heavyweight are too big for him, which means a likely move back to light heavyweight for him. As for Arlovski, the loss for him was his first in six fights.
