This was the one. This was the fight that moved Ronda Rousey from MMA star to a legitimate mainstream hit.
While the UFC women’s bantamweight champion had certainly garnered a following during her early title reign, a UFC 190 fight with Bethe Correia really took it to the next level.
Despite the Aug. 1 event taking place in Brazil, which hasn’t always produced massive pay-per-view shows, UFC 190 was a hit. The event reportedly did close to a million PPV buys (and shattered MMAjunkie’s traffic records by a whopping 76 percent), and Rousey was clearly the reason why.
So re-watch that landmark fight (all 34 seconds of it) above and see Rousey produce a highlight-reel finish.
Up next for Rousey (12-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) is a UFC 193 pay-per-view headliner against Holly Holm (9-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC), which takes place Nov. 14 at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne. The dominant champ, who’s ranked 1 in the NOS Energy Drink MMA women’s bantamweight rankings, looks for her seventh consecutive title defense.
