Video: Watch Conor McGregor's epic, avant garde UFC Fight Night 59 workout in Boston

BOSTON – In case there was any doubt, we learned on Thursday that Conor McGregor is a crowd pleaser.

The brash Irish superstar thrilled fans at a UFC Gym location in Boston with a lengthy open workout, eschewing the tradition typical of fighters in these pre-bout formalities to just do a light few minutes of photo-op material and call it a day.

Instead, McGregor spent roughly 30 minutes just warming up and stretching before he even brought in a training partner to hit pads and grapple with. McGregor later said he didn’t know any better – that he was just doing what he always does. (For the record, his opponent, Dennis Siver, didn’t just go through the motions today, nor did co-main event fighters Benson Henderson and Donald Cerrone.)

McGregor (16-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) headlines UFC Fight Night 59 against Siver (22-9 MMA, 11-6 UFC) on Sunday at TD Garden in Boston. The main card airs on FOX Sports 1, and McGregor is expected to get a featherweight title shot against Jose Aldo with a win. He’s a 12-to-1 favorite who will fight in front of a crowd that will be plenty friendly to him in one of America’s most famous Irish cities.

Check out the video above with highlights of McGregor’s workout, which included brandishing a pair of UFC titles – signifying his desire to win Aldo’s belt at 145 pounds, then take a title at lightweight, as well.
