The event-preview shows details the upcoming UFC on FOX 15 middleweight showdown between contenders Lyoto Machida and Luke Rockhold.
The event takes place Saturday at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FOX and UFC Fight Pass.
The show previews the Machida (22-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC) vs. Rockhold (13-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) headliner. The winner is expected to be in prime position to challenge the May winner of champion Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort. Rockhold is ranked ranked No. 3 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA middleweight rankings, and Machida is No. 5.
The show also previews a co-main event that was scrapped just the day before the program aired. Ronaldo Souza (21-3 MMA, 4-0 UFC) was set to meet Yoel Romero in the co-feature, but Romero pulled out with a late injury. Instead, Chris Camozzi (21-9 MMA, 6-6 UFC) will step in for a rematch with “Jacare.” The program still features behind-the-scenes moments with Romero, even though he no longer is on the card. Another featured main-card fight on the show is between featherweights Max Holloway (12-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) and Cub Swanson (21-6 MMA, 6-2 UFC).
The “Road to the Octagon” show goes behind the scenes with the fighters at home and in the gym ahead of their network-televised fights.
