LAS VEGAS – Sarah Moras sports one of the more unique nicknames of any female fighter on the UFC roster. “Cheesecake” made her UFC debut on Sunday night, outworking Alexis Dufresne (4-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) over three rounds for a unanimous decision victory.
Moras was assigned her nickname early in her career after walking out to a song from “The Muppet Show,” and it has stuck with her ever since.
“For my first pro fight I came out to a song named ‘Cheesecake’ by The Muppets,” Moras told MMAjunkie. “Everyone started calling me ‘Cheesecake’ after that, so I just went with it.”
Moras entered the UFC following a failed stint on “The Ultimate Fighter 18,” which was the first season of the long-running reality show to feature female fighters.
Following the most important victory of her young MMA career, Moras revealed she’ll celebrate the performance with a “cheesecake party.”
“My little secret is I like to have a cheesecake party where everyone invited has to bring a different kind of cheesecake, and then we just pig out on cheesecake,” Moras said. “I can’t make cheesecake – I just buy it. I like to have fun with my fights. I do this because I love it, not because I hate people.”
