Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate might be chalking Tuesday’s news up to fate. It’s likely Cat Zingano doesn’t feel that way, but there’s no turning back now.

The UFC announced that Zingano recently has suffered a knee injury. On Tuesday, she had surgery. But the development left her out of her coaching spot opposite UFC women’s bantamweight champion Rousey for Season 18 of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

So when Rousey showed up in Las Vegas on Tuesday to start filming the show, which airs starting Sept. 4 on FOX Sports 1, she was in for a big surprised when Tate was there waiting as her opposing coach – and her opponent in her next title defense later this year.

Zingano beat Tate in April with a third-round TKO to earn her “TUF 18? coaching spot and title shot. But the show must go on, despite her injury, and Tate becomes the surprise benefactor. Tate and Rousey, of course, have the biggest rivalry in women’s MMA. They fought in March 2012 in Strikeforce, and Rousey submitted Tate with a first-round armbar – the only way she’s ever won any fight. Now the rematch is set, and Tate will get a chance to reclaim her title – despite coming off a loss.

Check out the video above of Rousey, Tate and UFC President Dana White reacting to the news of the switch.

Dana White appeared livid that Ronda Rousey was asked if she would fight at UFC 176 directly following her destructive win over Alexis Davis at UFC 175. Following her amazing sixteen second demolition of Alexis Davis at UFC 175, Joe Rogan said that the production truck told him to ask her if she would headline UFC 176. 176 lost its main event when Jose Aldo suffered an injury and the UFC has not promoted the event at all this weekend, seemingly suggesting that the event may be scrapped altogethe more

If you don't ask, you never know, right? Help wanted: New "guy in UFCs production truck." Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) ringside announcer, Joe Rogan, put women's Bantamweight champion, Ronday Rousey, on the spot during a post-victory interview after she smashed Alexis Davis in 16 seconds (read fight recap here) in UFC 175's co-main event. And it didn't go over too well. Rogan -- at the behest of some poor soul "in the production truck" -- asked "Rowdy" if she would be interested in makin more

UFC 176 is less than a month away and with the removal of headliner Jose Aldo from the card due to injury, there's currently no main event in place. Perhaps that's why someone on the UFC's production team asked UFC commentator Joe Rogan to ask the victorious UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey if she'd be interested in competing on the card. After all, Rousey seemingly got through her co-main event bout at UFC 175 unscathed, blasting through challenger Alexis Davis in a mere 16 second more

One of the highlights of any UFC fight week is the media scrum with Dana White after an event. UFC 175 was no exception. These scrums often provide little nuggets of information that pique fans' interest. Among the many topics discussed after a Ronda Rousey fight is almost always Cris “Cyborg” Justino. However, White offered a bit more information during this particular scrum. White began by asking the surrounding media who would like him to sign Cyborg. All but one media member raised their han more

Ronda Rousey’s 16-second knockout win over Alexis Davis at UFC 175 might roll out the red carpet to one of the most feared female fighters on the planet, Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino. UFC President Dana White has typically downplayed the possibility of Cyborg ever coming to the UFC, but there was a much different tone in his voice at Saturday night's media scrum, as relayed by Chuck Mindenhall of MMAFighting.com, following Rousey’s fourth consecutive UFC title defense. When asked if he was interes more

Dana White claims to have offered Cris Cyborg a same deal as Ronda Rousey in the past, but according to the UFC president, she turned it down. With every dominant win Ronda Rousey has over each female competitor they put against her, Dana White gets asked about when he would bring in a fellow dominant champion in Cris Cyborg. UFC 175 was no exception, and after Rousey's 16 second TKO over Alexis Davis, White was asked the same question and he became testy about it. "You guys want me to sign her, more
