LAS VEGAS – You’re going to have a hard time finding a fellow fighter who will fault Benson Henderson’s move from the UFC to Bellator.
Henderson (23-5 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), a former UFC and WEC champion, announced a new deal with Bellator earlier this week. Subsequently, officials confirmed Henderson will fight for a title and meet welterweight champ Andrey Koreshkov (18-1 MMA, 9-1 BMMA) at Bellator 153 on April 22.
Henderson is one of the biggest names to voluntarily leave the UFC for another promotion. Is it a sign of things to come for some other top-level fights?
Ahead of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 82 event in Las Vegas, we asked fellow fighters for their input. Nearly all of them supported Henderson’s decision to get the best deal in a sometimes “selfish sport.”
Could others follow his lead, though?
Check out the above video as Roy Nelson, Joseph Benavidez, Zach Makovsky, Ovince Saint Preux, Lance Palmer and others weigh in.
