UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will be one of the many interested parties tuned in to Saturday’s UFC 169 pay-per-view headliner, and he sees a path to victory for the challenger.
Urijah Faber (30-6 MMA, 6-2 UFC) looks to claim his first UFC title when he meets former interim champ/recently crowned bantamweight titleholder Renan Barao (31-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) at Newark, N.J.’s Prudential Center. It’ll be no easy feat for Faber, and Barao is a fairly significant 3-1 favorite with the oddsmakers.
But Johnson believes there’s a way for Faber to win, who and he displayed it during his recent victory.
“My mindset on that fight is that if Urijah can go out there and make it a scrap like he did against Michael McDonald, I could see Urijah Faber winning that (fight),” he said.
However, he acknowledges it’ll be no easy feat, especially against someone like Barao. Check out the above video for Johnson’s quick breakdown.
