Video: Conor McGregor usually trains after midnight, but here he is in daylight hours

LAS VEGAS – For UFC 189 headliner Conor McGregor, the only thing weird about being half-naked and working out for a bunch of reporters is the time of day in which he was doing it.

On Thursday MMAjunkie and other media outlets arrived at the TUF Gym in Las Vegas for an open workout with McGregor. As the Irishman said during a subsequent interview (watch the full McGregor media scrum), he’s usually not in the gym during daylight hours.

“I was at the gym at 3 o’clock last night – at 3 in the morning,” he said. “This isn’t my time to train. I don’t train at this time. I wake up and stretch and do yoga at this time. I eat, and I relax

“I train at 11, 12 at night.”

McGregor (17-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) recently relocated to a plush Las Vegas mansion for his UFC 189 training camp. He meets featherweight champ Jose Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) in the July 11 pay-per-view headliner at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Sin City.

Check out the above workout as McGregor readies for the big fight, which pits Aldo, who’s ranked No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings (and No. 2 pound-for-pound) against No. 6-ranked McGregor.
