Victory CEO Says 3 Events in 30 Days is Just the Beginning | MMAWeekly.com

While Victory FC is no stranger to putting on events within weeks of each other, starting in late November, the promotion will have its busiest stretch yet with three shows over the span of 30 days.

While it wasn’t initially planned this way, Victory CEO Ryan Stoddard is confident he and his team will be able to pull off three shows in such close proximity to each other.

“We originally had an event scheduled for Nov. 4, but due to some constrictions with the UFC and being able to run our event live on Fight Pass, we had to make some adjustments,” Stoddard told MMAWeekly.com. “So we moved our show from Nov. 4 to Dec. 23. So, starting with Nov. 23 to Dec. 23, we have three shows in 30 days.

“Doing shows close together is not something that we’re not used to. We try to do things as far out in advance that we have plenty of time to get ready for everything.”

While promotions such as the UFC can have hundreds of staffers help organize its schedule, Stoddard doesn’t have the same amount of manpower, but by not making changes to how they do things, Victory is able to pull off the logistics.

“It can be (crazy) with the athletes, especially when you’re doing the travel plans and everything like that, but for the most part, I have a really good staff of individuals around me,” said Stoddard. “When it comes to fight week, we execute pretty well.

“I’m a big believer in consistency. Different place; same show. We really try to run our set-ups and our ticketing and everything in similar fashion. That makes it very easy to transplant ourselves to other places.”

When it comes to the fighters themselves, injuries can wreak havoc with a card and sometimes cause the cancellation of an entire event. Victory has been avoided this pitfall thanks to the company’s scheduling foresight.

“We work with enough great camps that if somebody falls off or gets hurt, we’re usually able to replace them with somebody good, at that high level we need them to be,” Stoddard said. “And we’re able to put on the best show possible for the fans.

“Most importantly we give our athletes a good chunk of notice. We’re not trying to throw these shows together on 30 days’ notice each time out, so that tends to allow them the time to train and prepare, so because of that we tend not have to many injuries or any other issues going into these events.”

After the three shows in 30 days, Victory will be right back at it, holding the first of possibly double-digit events early in the year, before hopefully expanding the promotion’s reach in 2017.

“We’re looking to do up to 11 shows, somewhere right in that neighborhood, within the markets we’ve been doing,” said Stoddard. “We’re also looking to expand into some markets, one of those being Canada. We’re excited to go north of ourselves and go through the central part of Canada and add another footprint for ourselves.”
