Undeterred in her pursuit, 'Cyborg' says Rousey can lose '100 fights' and she'll still want to face her

Judging by her not-so-subtle pleas, one would imagine that Cristiane Justino wouldn’t be too excited about the Amanda Nunes vs. Ronda Rousey booking.

Spoiler alert: She wasn’t. In fact, before UFC 207’s headliner was even announced, “Cyborg” was already on social media reinforcing her belief that Rousey was ducking her – this time, on a Facebook post titled: “Why my fight with Ronda Rousey might never happen.”

When it comes to MMA, however, a lot can happen in 16 hours. And, after confirming Rousey’s return, UFC President Dana White went on to say that Justino shouldn’t abandon all hope just yet.

“I actually – I know that ‘Cyborg’ wants that fight,” White told FS1’s “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd. “ Ronda wants that fight, too. So Ronda’s plan right now is to come back and try to win her title back. And if that happens, the ‘Cyborg’ fight will definitely happen.”

It didn’t take too long for “Cyborg” (17-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) to reply. And, keeping up with her relentless social media campaign, she said she is not going to just sit back and hope Rousey (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) beats current titleholder Nunes (13-4 MMA, 6-1 UFC) to reclaim the title lost to Holly Holm last November.

Say the ideal scenario unfolds, and Rousey does win. Well, then there’s the lingering weight issue. After brutal cuts for her two 140-pound UFC catchweight bouts, Justino has made it clear that she can’t make the 135-pound bantamweight limit.

Then it’s on to the next question: Would Rousey be willing to meet “Cyborg” halfway? Not according to the Invicta FC featherweight champ, who thinks that’s yet another card that Rousey is going to play to dodge her.

“There’s a reason Ronda isn’t facing Holly Holm,” the post reads. “That reason isn’t the fact that Holly has gone 2-0 since their fight. The reason is that even Ronda knows Holly is the better fighter. Styles make fights, and that is the same reason Ronda is never going to accept a fight against me.

“She knows my punches, size and aggression are too much. That’s why she’ll demand I try to kill myself to make 135. She doesn’t want ‘Cyborg’ to be ‘Cyborg.’ I only went to 140 pounds in an attempt to make the fight against Ronda Rousey.”

Complicated enough? Well, the drama may have gained yet another layer just a few hours ago, with the Los Angeles Times’ Lance Pugmire saying that White may have already backtracked on his comments from earlier today.

One thing’s for certain – Justino doesn’t seem willing to let it go that easy. And, while she may have expressed intentions to “enjoy her vacation” and let the Rousey thoughts go for a while, her furiously updated Twitter account tells a different story.
