Sherdog.com confirmed with Legacy FC promoter Mick Maynard on Wednesday that the Brazilian prospect has signed a contract with the UFC. A date for his debut with the Las Vegas-based promotion has yet to be determined.
The 22-year-old Almeida captured Legacy’s vacant 135-pound belt with a resounding victory over countryman Caio Machado at Horseshoe Bossier City Hotel and Casino in Bossier City, La., this past Friday night. A left hook to the liver dropped Machado, and Almeida ended it at the 4:17 mark of the opening stanza with a few follow-up punches on the ground.
The Chute Boxe product heads to the UFC with a perfect mark in 17 professional appearances. “Thominhas” has finished all of his victims inside the distance – 13 via knockout and four by way of submission. Only two of those opponents have seen a second round against Almeida.
