It’s safe to say Brazilian UFC fighter Kevin Souza‘s hand is, indeed, broken.
Souza, who recently made his UFC debut and earned a split-decision victory over Felipe Arantes at UFC Fight Night 28, hinted at a hand injury after the Sept. 4 victory.
Today, he tweeted the above picture, which shows the break, before he underwent surgery on the hand. A timetable hasn’t been sent for his return.
Souza (14-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC), a replacement for injured featherweight Sam Sicilia at the Brazilian event, got off to a fast start with crisp striking. However, the knockout artist’s output slowed in the later rounds as Arantes (15-6-1 MMA, 2-2-1 UFC) began to catch up. We now know why.
Despite the injury, Souza got the victory, which marked his eighth straight.
