Josh Neer at UFC 104
Josh Neer is back.
Following his main event victory at Saturday’s Super Cage Combat 2 in Las Vegas, Neer signed a new four-fight contract with the UFC. He will return at UFC on Versus 6 on Oct. 1 in Washington, DC, to face fellow returnee Keith Wisniewski.
Neer’s manager, Mickey Dubberly of KO Dynasty, told MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday that Neer did indeed sign a four-fight contract with the UFC, but he could not say when or against who his fighter would return.
MMAWeekly.com confirmed the fight with independent sources close to the event. The fight was first reported by MMAJunkie.com.
Neer (31-10-1) has served couple tours of duty in the UFC. He last fought in the Octagon at UFC 104 losing to Gleison Tibau in the second of back-to-back defeats. He has since gone on to win six of his last seven bouts, his only loss at the hands of Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez.
Wisniewski (28-12-1) has made only one UFC appearance in the past. He lost a unanimous decision to Nick Thompson at UFC 56 in late 2005. He lost four more consecutive bouts before going on his current winning streak of six straight. Wisniewski’s current streak includes wins over UFC veterans Pete Spratt and Chris Wilson.
A UFC bantamweight title bout between current champion Dominick Cruz and challenger Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson heads the UFC on Versus 6 fight card.
