Duane “Bang” Ludwig put his stand up skills on display against “The Ultimate Fighter Season 7? winner Amir Sadollah at UFC on Versus 5 on Sunday at The Bradley Center in Milwaukee, winning by unanimous decision in a one-sided fight.
Ludwig had his opponent hurt in the first round and the second round, but was unable to put him away. Sadollah, who typically uses his Muay Thai ability to out strike his opponents, found himself on the receiving end of Ludwig’s fists and feet.
Ludwig mixed up his delivery high and low with punches, knees, and kicks. His left hook seemingly landed at will.
Sadollah came out in the final stanza with a sense of urgency, knowing he was down on the judges’ scorecards. He pushed the pace, moving forward, but was simply out matched on his feet against the seasoned striker.
“I’ve been doing it since I was 16. Not to be boastful, but I’m good at what I do,” said Ludwig about his striking following the fight.
Ludwig, known primarily for his kickboxing, fended off all of Sadollah’s takedown attempts and secured a takedown himself in the closing seconds of the bout.
“I’m a mixed martial artist,” he said in his post-fight interview.
The win puts Ludwig on a two-fight winning streak and snapped Sadollah’s streak of back-to-back victories. Ludwig’s takedown defense and wrestling has improved and Sadollah showed his durability.
