Jacob Volkmann vs. Danny Castillo (lightweight)

Round 1: Volkmann looking for the ground right away, but Castillo shrugs him off. Castillo with a nice inside leg kick, followed by another. Castillo continues to punish Volkmann’s lead leg. Volkmann gets in deep on a takedown and puts Castillo on his back. Volkmann working for a D’arce choke, it looks deep but Castillo continues to move and eventually gets out and ends up on top of Volkmann. Volkmann is able to work his way back to the feet and they separate. Castillo lands a nasty body kick and then moves in for the takedown. Castillo can’t land the takedown and Volkmann looks to strike to the body.

Round 2: Castillo grabs for and gets a takedown to start round 2. Volkmann again look for the D’Arce choke from the bottom, but lets it go. Castillo struggles to get position and Volkmann works his way back up against the cage. A scramble ensues with both fighters looking for the takedown and eventually Volkmann is able to put Castillo on his back. Volkmann passes to half guard and starts to land elbows to Castillo’s head. Volkmann again looks for the D’arce choke, but Castillo gets out. Volkmann still on top looking for the choke as the round ends.

Round 3: Castillo comes out swinging to start round 3, connecting with a right hand to Volkmann’s jaw. Castillo with a leg kick that thuds on Volkmann’s lead leg. Volkmann looks for the takedown but Castillo scrambles and gets out of there. Castillo tries to time a knee as Volkmann shoots in, but he still lands the takedown. Volkmann ends up in half guard, trying for another D’Arce choke. Castillo slips out again, but Volkmann still on top. Volkmann landing short forearm shots on the ground as the fight comes to a close.
