UFC on Versus 4 Play-by-Play: Joe Stevenson vs. Javier Vazquez

Round 1: Vazquez shoots in and takes Stevenson to the mat. Stevenson looking for an armbar from the bottom, looks deep but Vazquez stays patient and gets out. Vazquez goes for a quick armbar of his own, but lets it go and ends back up on top in Stevenson’s half guard. After a lull in action, the referee stands them up. Vazquez looks for the shot again, but can’t land it this time. Stevenson quick on his feet, but not throwing much and Vazquez slips under and gets another takedown. Vazquez looking to pass guard, and peppering at Stevenson with short punches. Vazquez looks to punish the body as the round ends.

Round 2: Stevenson loose on his feet, but not able to land much early. Vazquez lands a couple quick straight punches. Stevenson ducks and Vazquez pops him with a great shot. Stevenson shoots in this time, grabbing a single leg as Vazquez gets his neck. Vazquez has a tight guillotine, but Stevenson gets out. Back up, clinched against the cage Stevenson still working with a body lock, but Vazquez reverses and takes him down. Vazquez spins and takes Stevenson’s back. Stevenson is able to slip away and looks for another takedown, but can’t land it.

Round 3: Vazquez opens with another good straight left. Stevenson moving a lot, but not throwing much until he finally lands a leg kick. Vazquez pops Stevenson with a couple of good uppercuts as well. Stevenson is moving again, but still not throwing much of anything. Vazquez doubles up with a straight punch followed by an overhand punch. Vazquez tags him with another good combo as the round and the fight close.
