UFC SwedenThe Ultimate Fighting Championship has been hard at work filling the UFC on FUEL TV 9 fight card, amidst a flurry of announcements, promotion officials recently confirmed several more bouts added to the April 6 Swedish card.

In the middleweight division, Rhode Island’s “Filthy” Tom Lawlor (8-5-1) meets Holland’s Michael Kuiper (12-1).  Kuiper is 1-1 in the UFC.  He lost his promotional debut to Rafael Natal at UFC 143, but bounced back with a TKO finish of Jared Hamman at UFC 150 in August.

Lawlor has lost two of his last three outings and is coming off a split decision loss to Francis Carmont at UFC 154 in November.

In the welterweight division, Sweden’s Chris “The Kiss” Spang (5-1) will make his UFC debut against the Russin-born, Albuquerque-trained Adlan “The Wolf” Amagov.  Spang is a crossover from the defunct Strikeforce promotion.  He made his way up through the Strikeforce Challengers series. He is coming off a TKO win over Nah-Shon Burrell.

Amagov, also a transfer from Strikeforce, is coming off a technical knockout win over Keith Berry in August.

Sweden’s Reza “Mad Dog” Madadi (12-3) will meet TUF 12 runner-up Michael “The Menace” Johnson (12-7) in a lightweight bout.

Madadi made his UFC debut in the promotion’s first trip to Sweden, defeating Yoislandy Izquierdo by submission.  In his last outing, Madadi was defeated by Cristiano Marcello by split decision.

Johnson has an impressive three-fight win streak snapped in his last outing, losing to Myles Jury by decision.

The main event planned for UFC Fight Night 45 in Atlantic City has Fight of the Night written all over it. Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, owner of three straight stoppage victories, will take on the tough and dangerous Jim Miller. Cerrone and Miller are ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, in the lightweight division. The winner may not be ready for a title shot, but he would certainly have every right to consider himself one fight away. Khabib Nurmagomedov has already made it known that he would l more

Mookie Alexander does some fantasy matchmaking for last night's main card fighters from UFC Fight Night: Cerrone vs. Miller. Fans who looked forward to Wednesday's UFC Fight Night: Cerrone vs. Miller got their money's worth, whether via attending the event in Atlantic City or justifying the cable bill required to get Fox Sports 1. It was really a fun night of fights that should be the standard for how a UFC card should look on cable TV. You don't HAVE to have a title fight as the main event or e more

Conor McGregor and Diego Brandao headline a stacked card of one-sided fights for Dublin, Ireland July 19, 2014. Sweet. More fights. I can't wait. McGregor vs. Brandao is gonna be sweet! Well, if by 'sweet', you mean Brandao is gonna be ripped apart and his pieces will be mailed to every favela in Brazil, then yes. Ok so the main card is filled with hilariously one-sided matchups, but what about the undercard? It's a lot better. I like this event's main card because like the last event, we're gua more

This weekend marks the UFC's return to Fox on network TV, as UFC on Fox 12 will be live from San Jose. Headlined by Robbie Lawler and Matt Brown, the card boasts a deep lineup with lots of top talent. Last week's two-event marathon was mediocre for my picks. Overall, between UFC Fight Night 45 and 46, I went 6-5, as upsets and disappointments marred my picks. That said, here are the prelim predictions for UFC on Fox 12. 2014 Riley's Record: 100-68 Last Event: UFC Fight Night 46 (3-3)Begin Slides more

Even if UFC on Fox 12 only featured the "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler vs. "The Immortal" Matt Brown bout, there would be a good number of viewers tuning in to what figures to be an action-packed clash between two elite welterweights. This is one of those fights that jumps off the screen or page, the moment you read that it was going to take place. Because there is actually an undercard to augment the appeal of the compelling main event, UFC on Fox 12 from the SAP Center in San Jose, California could more

UFC on Fox 12 delivered on Saturday evening. The main card was four fights of high-level action. We saw quality performances that sent the winners into title contention across several divisions. However, the undercard also performed mightily. There were eight fights on the undercard with four being seen on UFC Fight Pass and the second four starting the action on Fox. One was the smallest platform for fighters to be seen inside the Octagon, and the other was the biggest. Seven of the eight fight more

Mookie Alexander puts on his matchmaking cap for the main card fighters from last night's UFC on Fox 12. UFC on Fox 12 was another great show in a month chock-full of tremendous cards and fights. Robbie Lawler and Matt Brown delivered on action (but not an emphatic finish as many had predicted), Bobby Green scored a division-shaking upset, while Dennis Bermudez and Anthony Johnson absolutely demolished their respective opponents. There were only 3 finishes on the card out of 12 fights, but there more
