landing knees to the body. The middleweights come off the fence to
exchange jabs and crosses before Fukuda ties up again. This time
it’s a Thai plum allowing Fukuda to score with knees, but DeBlass
is quickly separated. Fukuda cracks DeBlass with a right hook and
bullies him on the cage a little more, then splits with a kick to
the body. It’s only a few seconds before Fukuda has DeBlass on the
fence again, punishing the body. The sequence repeats and Fukuda
lands uppercuts after the break, then a stiff combo before the end
of the round.

Round 3
Fukuda is straight back to his strategy for the final frame,
bullying DeBlass on the fence with dirty boxing before dragging him
to the floor. DeBlass tries to stay busy from his back, but it’s
tough to mount offense with Fukuda’s face buried in his chest.
Fukuda postures up to drop punches to DeBlass’ body, then goes to
the head. DeBlass creates space by pushing off with his legs but
Fukuda won’t be pushed away. He comes back to DeBlass’ guard and
DeBlass swings his legs up, possibly angling for an armbar, to no
avail. Ninety seconds left and Fukuda is still holding strong on
top, mashing DeBlass’ face with short punches. The action isn’t
enough for referee Marc Goddard, who orders them up with 70 seconds
to go. Fukuda gets inside and puts DeBlass on the fence with
underhooks, then backs off and lands punches on the stationary
DeBlass. The middleweights end the fight swinging.

continues circling the outside while Lineker stalks forward. More
leg kicks from Urushitani only seem to anger Lineker, who pushes
forward swinging hard hooks to Urushitani’s body and head. Lineker
targeting the body now, throwing punches with abandon and forcing
Urushitani to bail out. Urushitani reestablishes himself on the
outside, swiping with hooks, but he’s sent to the canvas briefly
again with another punch. Shortly after, Urushitani takes a finger
to the eye from the outstretched, measuring hand of Lineker. The
Japanese fighter recovers and the round ends without much more.

Round 3
Urushitani sets up on the perimeter again, still landing sporadic
punches but unable to match the power with which Lineker is
throwing. Lineker continues to pile on the punches, and midway
through the round, he’s got Urushitani in trouble. A series of
right hands from Lineker as he tries to put Urushitani down for
good, but the Shooto export is too slippery, maneuvering around the
outside and avoiding damage. Urushitani finally tries for a
takedown, only to be stuffed and socked in the face with more
punches. Urushitani gets back on his feet and the flyweights end in
an exchange. When the horn sounds, Lineker raises his hands while a
deflated Urushitani retreats to his corner.

another Tezuka takedown puts him on his back. “Bruce Leroy” stays
active off his back while Tezuka is forced to play defense on top,
minding Caceres’ legs and triangles. Scrambling back up, Caceres
charges Tezuka with a flying knee to the body, pushing the Japanese
fighter into the fence. Tezuka responds by clinching Caceres into
the fence, but it doesn’t last long. Short punches and backhands
from Caceres, then he socks Tezuka when the Pancrase fighter ducks
inside for another takedown. Tezuka finishes the round coming
forward in an awkward karate stance.

in some kicks with his strikes now. Tezuka shoots for yet another
single-leg and is again denied by the “Ultimate Fighter” alum.
Caceres stays on the outside, jabbing and moving, slapping Tezuka
with leg kicks. Right hooks from Caceres are finding Tezuka’s cheek
every time the Japanese fighter throws. Tezuka dives on a final
single-leg and gets caught in a reverse triangle choke which
Caceres doesn’t have time to finish.

Mizugaki, who widens his base against the fence and reverses the
American to the ground. Hougland grabs an armbar and Mizugaki uses
his free right hand to slug Hougland’s face and escape from danger.
Ref Steve Perceval tells the bantamweights to work; Mizugaki gets
busy, but not to Perceval’s satisfaction, and they’re stood up.
Mizugaki stings Hougland with more punches on the feet and Hougland
shoots a desperate takedown. Mizugaki pancakes him. Back to
Hougland’s guard goes Mizugaki, still throwing punches to the body
and head, and that’s where the round ends.

from the American’s guard again. Hougland gets back to his feet,
only to be taken down again. The ground offense from Mizugaki slows
now and ref Perceval stands them up again. It’s only a matter of
seconds before Mizugaki hits another takedown and sets up shop in
Hougland’s guard. With less than a minute to go, a short elbow
busts Hougland’s forehead open. Mizugaki scrapes his glove on the
cut and grinds away for the final 30 seconds of the bout, en route
to what should be a clear decision win.

Tuck quickly recovers. Tuck comes charging at Zhang with a knee but
it proves ill-advised as Zhang hits a takedown. The crowd gets
amped as Zhang lands some light ground-and-pound, but Tuck soon
reverses and sets up shop on top. Ground-and-pound gives way to a
kimura attempt, which allows Tuck to hop into full mount with two
minutes left on the clock. Tuck looks for a mounted triangle choke,

again. Zhang’s face is really bloodied now, with red leaking out
his nose and his mouthpiece continually slipping out. Zhang is on

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Gomi
Round 2
Gomi is finding his range with punches to Danzig’s face as they
square off, and when Danzig pulls the Thai plum, it’s Gomi winging
hooks to the body. Danzig finds some knees in the clinch, backs off
and takes another right hand on the chin. Short left lands for
Danzig, but Gomi lands a simultaneous hard right which knocks
Danzig’s mouthpiece loose. Gomi denies a takedown attempt and a
tie-up from Danzig, who socks the former Pride star with a nice
left to the body. Both men trade short punches on the chin with 90
seconds remaining in the round, then Danzig plows Gomi down with a
double-leg. Danzig works from half-guard, framing up an
arm-triangle which doesn’t go. Gomi reverses but gets caught in a
guillotine choke, allowing Danzig to roll back on top. Danzig leans
from left to right in Gomi’s half-guard, then grabs another
guillotine and rolls to his back. Gomi seems unconcerned as he
punches Danzig’s body until the round ends.

advances to mount but instead is forced to defend against a leglock
from Danzig. Gomi twists loose, extracts his leg and stays on top,
punishing Danzig for the sub attempt with a couple right hands.
They work back up to their feet, where Gomi presses Danzig into the
fence. Danzig tosses Gomi down and unloads with right hands from
side control, but Gomi is able to escape without much damage.
They’re back to striking and Gomi is keeping busy with punches and
leg kicks, waving Danzig on to strike. Danzig obliges and Gomi
counters, then shuts down another Danzig takedown attempt. Good

Round 2
Thiago gets off some early leg kicks, but that’s the most offense
he can muster before Kim gets inside and wraps him up. It’s
stifling control from Kim as he pins the kneeling Thiago against
the fence with a body lock, throwing knees to the body. Thiago
seems to have no answer for the position as he stays in place,
controlled by the “Stun Gun.” Finally, with less than a minute
remaining in the round, Thiago squirts out and pushes Kim into the
fence. Kim reverses and sinks in a brabo choke. It’s deep, but
Thiago is saved by the horn.

the center of the cage and keeps Thiago on the outside with his
jab. Kim shoots and takes the back of Thiago standing, then keeps
the position as they go to the ground in the middle of the cage.
Thiago stands back up and tries to shake Kim off, and Kim seems to
be losing the position as he’s riding quite high on the back. Kim
somehow maintains the position even as Thiago uses his hands to
peel off the body triangle. The Stun Gun won’t be shaken, and he
finishes the fight strong, posturing up in mount and dropping huge
double-hammerfists on the cowering Thiago.

shortly after it begins. Nedkov recovers after a minute and quickly
returns to his strategy of pinning the larger Silva on the cage.
Silva works some knees inside while Nedkov holds him, and ref Steve
Perceval splits them up with about 3:40 to go. A few seconds later,
Nedkov has an underhook and is pushing Silva against the fence
again. Silva gets out and throws another low kick which Nedkov
claims is low; Perceval says to fight on. Some more fence work, no
offense from Nedkov, and Silva escapes again. Silva lands some
sharp leg kicks before being floored by an overhand right from
Nedkov. The Bulgarian tries to pounce and pound Silva out, but
Silva recovers and covers up under fire to see round three.

clearly exhausted from trying to finish Silva at the end of the
previous round. Silva catches Nedkov with a right hook, a short
right and Nedkov turns his back to walk away. Silva gives chase and
takes Nedkov down, advancing almost immediately to full mount. It’s
a matter of seconds before Silva sinks in an arm-triangle choke,
hops off to the side and squeezes to finish the fight. Thiago Silva
ends Nedkov’s unbeaten run with a comeback submission at 1:45 of
round three.
