Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Rivera
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Rivera
Round 2
Soto goes back to circling, flicking out front kicks and long
punches. He lands one to the body, takes a left hook from Rivera
and has a single-leg snuffed out. Another body kick from Soto and
Rivera answers with a leg kick that strays to the groin. Soto says
he’s alright and they keep fighting. A moment later, another kick
hits Soto in the cup and this time ref Rick McCoy calls a break.
It’s only a few seconds before they’re going again and exchanging
snappy leg kicks. Rivera lands a right hand over the top, shuts
down another shot and hits the right again. Rivera puts a right
hand on Soto’s temple and then kicks him in the face while he’s
leaning. Now it’s Soto who catches a low blow, but again the break
lasts only seconds. They get back to work with just under two
minutes left in the round. Soto is still on his bike, moving
backward while Rivera looks for the homerun shot. Rivera lands
another right hand and follows up with a right head kick. Soto goes
down but hops back up. Rivera won’t let up, walking toward Soto and
throwing hard shots to the horn.

Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Rivera
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Rivera
Round 3
Soto hits a takedown early in the final round but Rivera doesn’t
stay down long. “Cisco” is quickly back on his feet, stalking Soto
with right hands and teep kicks to the jaw. Soto is in deep
trouble, struggling to stay vertical along the fence after a
vicious right from Rivera. He does stay up, and Soto is actually
looking the fresher of the two bantamweights as the fight enters
its final two minutes. Rivera is still the one coming forward,
though, and throwing with more volume, mixing in leg kicks with his
punches and teeps. Rivera is smiling as he throws punches and
nearly catches Soto with a knee as he shoots a single. Soto
abandons the shot and goes back to backpedaling. Soto tries to
finish with a bang as he pushes off the cage with a superman punch,
but time runs out and it looks like Rivera will take the nod.

Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Eduardo
Round 2
Eduardo opens up with more leg kicks; one, two, and a third which
nearly knocks Curran down. The next one has Curran looking to
clinch and Eduardo turns him away with a fast flurry of five or six
punches. Curran sticks his chin out with his hands down but Eduardo
can’t reach him with a snapping kick. Curran throws a hook kick and
a punching combo which miss, and Eduardo backs him off with a right
hand. A nice jab goes through for Curran, but Eduardo answers right
back with two hard kicks to Curran’s already damaged left leg.
Eduardo uses head movement to dodge two punches from Curran then
steps forward with a one-two and a leg kick. Eduardo is moving
backward but landing nice counters, and he easily shuts down a shot
from Curran. A punch appears to drop Curran in the closing seconds,
but he only goes down to a knee before raising his arms as if to
indicate it was a slip.
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Eduardo
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Eduardo
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Eduardo
Round 3
Another brutal leg kick from Eduardo in the opening seconds of
round three staggers Curran, who keeps moving forward, albeit very
gingerly now. Eduardo sprawls on a shot, Curran tries to clinch,
but the Brazilian shoves him off. Eduardo sticks a jab and then
goes inside to the right thigh of Curran. After the next exchange,
Eduardo indicates that Curran poked him in the right eye. Referee
Rick McCoy tells Eduardo that he didn’t see it and the fight must
continue. They keep going and Curran goes on the attack. Eduardo
continues to motion to his injured eye, as if he wants some kind of
acknowledgement from Curran, who keeps trying to jab on Eduardo’s
impaired side. Ninety seconds to go and Eduardo is playing a bit of
defense, moving backward as Curran flicks kicks low and kick.
Curran pours on the left hooks and right straights, landing a
number of solid shots in the last half-minute.

Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Grant
Round 2
Grant lands a right hook, catches a kick and shoves Prater into the
fence. Some hard body punches and knees up the middle from Grant,
and he exits the clinch with a nice standing elbow. Another clinch
and more knees from Grant. Prater momentarily reverses, but Grant
is soon back in the dominant position on the fence, then breaks
away. Grant sticks a combination in Prater’s face, ties up again
and scores with more knees. Grant shoves Prater to the ground.
Prater pops back up and grabs for a guillotine that doesn’t come,
and the fighters break. Ninety seconds left in the round now and
Prater gets an underhook to put Grant on the fence. Grant turns the
tables with a guillotine, lets it go and trips Prater down shortly
after. Grant has side control on Prater’s left side and now he
steps into position for a reverse triangle choke. He can’t cinch up
his legs, so Grant stays on top, punching away at the trapped head
of Prater, who reverses just as the round runs out.
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Grant
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Grant
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Grant
Round 3
Grant comes forward with a punching combo and a leg kick, misses
with a jumping knee. Prater tries to work a jab, but Grant is
staying busier, stringing together solid combos and then running
Prater down to the mat with just over three minutes to go in the
fight. Prater loops his left arm around Grant’s neck on the way
down. It’s not a tight guillotine but it’s giving Grant a little
trouble as he works to pass. Prater lets it go and Grant moves to
side control. Prater tries to get up but stalls out on his knees,
and Grant instantly tries to take his back. The ground-savvy Prater
won’t let him have it and puts his back on the canvas again. Grant
winds up in side control, then passes to full mount with 80 seconds
left. Prater tries to bump and roll, and this time Grant does
secure the back. Prater twists free and Grant keeps him on his
knees with a front headlock. Grant spins to the back, Prater stands
and Grant suplexes him down. Grant is on Prater’s back again and he
peels off for an armbar with only seconds to go. He doesn’t have
time to fully extend the limb before the final horn.

Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Yang
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Yang
Round 2
Tavares comes out throwing hands but Yang backs him away with a
great leaping front kick. After a nice right from Yang, Tavares is
pawing at his left eye again. Yang catches him high with a head
kick and then sticks his foot in Tavares’ breadbasket. Tavares
finally moves off the cage to avoid being a target for more high
kicks. He lands one to Yang’s body but Yang kicks him back. Yang
walks into the pocket and gets double underhooks, pressing Tavares
into the fence and working for an inside trip. He gets it, but
Tavares stands back up instantly and reverses the position on the
cage with a minute left in the middle round. The second frame ends
without much more offense of note.
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Yang
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Yang
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Yang
Round 3
Both middleweights come out with guns blazing and Tavares thinks
better of the exchange, instead switching levels and driving Yang
to the ground after about 15 seconds. Yang tries to scramble up and
take the back of Tavares, who turns and grabs onto another
single-leg. He completes it, Yang gets back up again and Tavares
once more slams him to the canvas at the base of the cage. Yang is
looking to post and stand but Tavares has his legs wrapped up,
opting to control the position instead of go for offense. It’s not
enough for ref Miragliotta, who stands them up with 3:15 remaining
in the bout. Tavares sticks a jab, misses with a three-punch combo
and has a front kick bloc ked. Yang is staying out of range of most
of Tavares’ punches, but a low kick splits the wickets and hits
“The Ox” right in the cup. Yang takes a minute to recover and they
resume with about two minutes left. Tavares is looking for the big
shot with punches and head kicks, but Yang is doing well to avoid.
Yang lands a good uppercut, gets moved back with a front kick. They
clash leg kicks and Tavares comes back with a hard kick to the
body. Down to the last 30 seconds now and Tavares is staying busy
with kicks to the legs and body of the tiring Yang, who scores a
takedown right at -- or maybe just after -- the final horn.

Pokrajac gets backed into the fence but comes storming out with
heavy punching combinations. He grabs onto the left leg of
Maldonado and pushes him into the fence, and the Brazilian gives
him some trouble with punches to the body and head. Pokrajac
switches legs and keeps digging for the single-leg, but it won’t
come. The 205-pounders work in the clinch on the fence now,
Maldonado scoring with hard body shots. Pokrajac gets the Thai plum
long enough to throw one knee, but Maldonado covers up and throws a
one-two to the body. Maldonado takes the outside position now and
rips away with more punches to the body. Pokrajac backs him off
with a left hook, then presses Maldonado on the fence again.
Maldonado reverses, keeps loading up on the body shots and then
goes up top with a hard left-right to Pokrajac’s face. Pokrajac
escapes, grabs the plum and lands a knee but can’t keep Maldonado
there. Maldonado takes an awkward spinning back-fist on the cheek,
wipes it off and turns away a single-leg from Pokrajac. They close
out the round with Maldonado on top, in half-guard.
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Maldonado
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Maldonado
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Maldonado
Round 3
It only takes a few seconds for the light heavyweights to get back
to the clinch, this time with Maldonado on the outside, working his
body strikes. Pokrajac is trying to land a big knee but can’t get
enough behind them to put down the durable boxer. Pokrajac gets a
big knee about 90 seconds in but Maldonado won’t budge. Ref
Miragliotta splits them up with three minutes left in the bout.
Maldonado lands a left hook, but Pokrajac charges back with a big
left of his own that seems to stun his man. Pokrajac is on the
outside now and it’s Maldonado trying for a trip takedown. Pokrajac
stuffs it and Miragliotta halts the action to let Pokrajac replace
his mouthguard. Pokrajac lands an outside thigh kick and Maldonado
jacks his jaw with a lead uppercut. A hard left straight from
Pokrajac snaps back Maldonado’s head, then they trade big shots on
the fence. Twenty seconds left and both men are looking to finish
as they slug it out on the cage. Maldonado gets the last word with
a knee to the gut.

on his strong end to the last round. Hougland tries for a
single-leg that goes nowhere and Jabouin punishes him with a stiff
push kick to the guts. Hougland whiffs on a spinning back-fist and
keeps peppering Jabouin’s left thigh with outside kicks. Once
again, Jabouin shuts down a single-leg try from Hougland, who lands
a couple more leg kicks and then gets his head snapped back with a
jab. Jabouin lands a nice kick to the left side of Hougland’s body
and Hougland gives him one back, although with a little less power.
Hougland tries to tie up, gets shoved off and dodges a head kick at
the end of the round.

Round 3
Hougland is dropped by a hard left hook from Jabouin, and the
Canadian swarms all over his downed opponent. Jabouin is warned to
mind the back of the head by ref McGovern; no matter, as Jabouin
continues pummeling the front of Hougland’s face. Hougland gives up
his back and Jabouin tries to secure the position for a rear-naked
choke, but Hougland slips out the backdoor. It doesn’t last long,
as Jabouin reverses to top position and works to extract his left
leg from Hougland’s half-guard and pass to the left side. It’s a
tough pass, as Hougland’s left side is flush to the fence, and
instead Hougland stuffs Jabouin back into his full guard. Hougland
swings his hips up for an armbar, but it doesn’t go and Jabouin
uses the opportunity to sock Hougland in the face with a few more
hammerfists. It’s elbows from Jabouin on top now, and Hougland
tries to muster some offense with body punches from his back as
time ticks away. The ref wants them up with 40 seconds left and
Jabouin hurts Hougland immediately with a knee to the body and
follow-up head kick. Hougland is right back where he was, trying to
dodge elbows from Jabouin, and that’s where this one ends.

Round 2
Stephens is having the same trouble in the first part of the second
as he did throughout the first: Cerrone is just too long, and the
“Cowboy” is using a variety of rangy kicks, punches and elbows to
damage and frustrate his opponent. An uppercut backs Stephens off
and Cerrone smells blood. The Greg Jackson student comes forward
and Stephens shoots a long shot which is stuffed. Right hook to the
body from Cerrone and he sidesteps a power combo. Cerrone pins
Stephens against the fence and picks his shots with hooks and
uppercuts. Stephens shoots again and is turned away. A good right
hand to the body lands for Stephens but Cerrone walks right through
it and keeps kicking away at Stephens’ lead leg. Cerrone ducks in
for a waistlock and sweeps the leg to put Stephens on his back for
the last 20 seconds of the round.
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Cerrone

lightweights get back to work. Stephens lands an outside thigh kick
but Cerrone gives him one back twice as hard. Cerrone tries a
takedown that doesn’t go, but a moment later he puts Stephens on
the ground with a hard outside leg kick. He lets Stephens back to
the feet, where Stephens starts swinging wildly and missing by a
good distance. Cerrone continues bouncing out of range and wearing
down the legs, as well as further swelling Stephens’ badly damaged
left eye. Two minutes to go now and this looks like a lost cause
for Stephens, who can’t get past Cerrone’s jab and can’t hang onto
the Cowboy when he does get hold of him. Cerrone keeps the strikes
coming, egging Stephens on to the final horn.

knees inside before breaking, then exchange kicks with Lopez going
to the legs and Sadollah going high. Lopez goes for the single-leg
again on the fence and Sadollah threatens with a guillotine which
Lopez escapes by dropping to the ground. In the ensuing scramble,
Lopez tries to mount Sadollah’s back but stalls out halfway.

Lopez goes for a similarly brief standing kimura. They break off
and Sadollah comes in with a jumping knee that misses. Lopez
counters with a right hand but Sadollah comes back with a leg kick
and a push kick. Another single-leg try from Lopez is denied and
Sadollah knees him in the face for his troubles. Sadollah is
thinking guillotine again, lets it go again. Lopez finishes the
high single-leg with about 2:10 left on the clock and tries to pass
Sadollah’s rangy open guard. Sadollah peppers with short punches on
either side while Lopez just lays flat on his opponent’s chest. Ref
Keith Peterson stands them up with a minute to go and it’s Sadollah
on the attack. He jumps in with a knee to the body, but it allows
Lopez to wrap him up with another single-leg attempt on the fence.
Sadollah punches the body a few times and then hits the switch on
the back leg to turn Lopez over. Lopez hops right back up and grabs
onto the other leg, but Sadollah circles out and lands one last

his hips for an armbar. Jung sits up and blasts Poirier with a hard

hook that makes Jung whiff on a spinning back-fist. Jung lands a
wild flying knee and then mugs Poirier against the fence with
punches. Poirier shoots a double-leg but Jung thwarts it and uses
the botched takedown to roll straight into full mount. Poirier
clasps his hands around Jung, trying to close the gap while the
Korean drops shots from on top. Jung peels off and extends an
armbar on Poirier’s left arm, but Poirier defends well. Jung
switches to a triangle and elbows the trapped Poirier in the face.
Poirier gets low and slips loose, and winds up on top in the
Zombie’s open guard with 40 seconds left. Poirier lands a right
hand and Jung throws up his legs for another triangle. He locks it
on, but time runs out and Poirier gets up shaking his head.

Round 3
The punches are coming a little slower from both featherweights now
after 10 fast-paced minutes. Poirier is sticking his jab while
Jung, with his hands held low, is missing with wilder punches. A
straight left from Poirier turns Jung’s head around, but just when
it looks like Poirier is taking the driver’s seat, Jung hits a big
takedown. He stays on top in side control for about 10 seconds, but
it’s long enough for Jung to inflict some damage from side control.
Poirier lands a right hand but Jung replies with a hard knee to the
gut before backing off to reset. Poirier comes forward swinging and
Jung dodges him with his hands at his waist. The Zombie charges
forward with punches and a knee that have Poirier backing into the

choke, and Poirier goes unconscious. Referee Dan Miragliotta steps
in to wave it off at the 1:07 mark of round four, giving Chan Sung
Jung the technical submission win and a UFC featherweight title
