UFC on Fuel TV 10 Bonuses: Thiago Silva Banks Extra $100K; Erick Silva, ‘Feijao’ Get $50K

Thiago Silva walked away from UFC on Fuel TV 10 with an extra $100,000 on Saturday night, as the light heavyweight was awarded both “Knockout of the Night” and “Fight of the Night” honors at Paulo Sarasate Gymnasium in Fortaleza, Brazil.

Silva shared “Fight of the Night” with Rafael Cavalcante, who netted $50,000 in defeat. Though “Feijao” appeared the stronger 205’er in the early going, Cavalcante faded as Silva turned up the heat late in the first frame. Silva floored his countryman with a nasty right uppercut before finishing the job with ground-and-pound.

The triumph marked Silva’s first victory in nearly four years, as he saw two wins changed to no-contests in that span due to failed drug tests. Meanwhile, Feijao has not won a fight since September 2011, when he knocked out Yoel Romero Palacio under the Strikeforce banner.

Welterweight up-and-comer Erick Silva picked up “Submission of the Night” for his first-round finish of Jason High. Silva caught “The Kansas City Bandit” early, sprawling on a takedown and quickly transitioning to High’s back, where Silva secured an inverted triangle armbar and forced the American to tap out in just 71 seconds.

The evening’s main event saw Fabricio Werdum move one step closer to a potential heavyweight title shot by avenging his 2006 loss to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, who was forced to verbally submit to a second-round armbar.
