The date for the UFC’s final event of the year on “Big Fox” has been known for quite some time. But on Wednesday, the promotion revealed via Fox Sports 1 the venue and location, as well.
UFC on Fox 9 will take place on Dec. 14 at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif.
Sleep Train is the latest moniker on the building, but this is the same ARCO Arena and Power Balance Pavilion that the UFC has visited twice before.
It has been since 2007, however, that the UFC has landed in Sacramento. That was for UFC 73, which featured a headlining bout champion Anderson Silva and challenger Nate Marquardt for the UFC middleweight title.
There have been no bouts rumored yet for UFC on Fox 9.
Urijah Faber vs. Michael McDonald is a marquee bantamweight bout that many people want to see, though. And with Sacramento being Faber’s hometown, and McDonald being from nearby Modesto, it could be a solid feature match-up on the card, if not a possible headliner. That is if the UFC makes the fight.
