UFC on Fox 4 Gets Swick-Johnson, Gamburyan-Omigawa, Phan-Miller, Garza-Grispi

Four new bouts have been added to the UFC on Fox 4 bill, promotion officials announced Tuesday, including a welterweight contest pitting Mike Swick against DaMarques Johnson.

Swick will make his Octagon return at the Aug. 4 event after being sidelined for over two years with injuries and medical issues. Former featherweight contender Josh Grispi will also compete at the event, fighting for the first time since last June against Pablo Garza. Two additional 145-pound contests are also now set, as Nam Phan meets Cole Miller while Manny Gamburyan toes the line against Michihiro Omigawa.

UFC on Fox 4 takes place at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be headlined by the UFC debut of former Bellator middleweight king Hector Lombard, as the native Cuban locks horns with heavy-handed American Brian Stann. In addition to the main event, the Las Vegas-based promotion’s fourth effort on Fox’s flagship network will also see former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida do battle with “Ultimate Fighter” Season 8 winner Ryan Bader.

Swick, 32, last competed in Feb. 2010, when he was choked unconscious by a Paulo Thiago brabo choke at UFC 109. The defeat marked the second consecutive loss for the former middleweight, as a defeat the previous November to Dan Hardy halted a four-fight winning streak for the man called “Quick.” A veteran of the original installment of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Swick holds 10 of his 14 career wins by either knockout or submission.

Johnson advanced to the “TUF 9” final in 2009, only to be submitted by James Wilks. Though a pair of wins would follow, Johnson has alternated victories and defeats in his last five fights, most recently submitting to a John Maguire armbar on April 14 at UFC on Fuel TV 2. The setback marked the sixth career submission loss for the 29-year-old, who has seen the judges’ scorecards just three times in 25 professional outings.
