Godofredo Pepey vs. Milton Vieira

Round 1: Pepey lands a leg kick to start the action.  Vieira delivers a hard kick to the body.  Pepey moves forward with a right hand. He lands another that knocks Vieira down.  Vieira secures a takedown.  He works in Pepey’s full guard.  He delivers elbows to the head and punches to the body.  Pepey is active off his back.  Vieira postures up and lands a hard elbow.  Papey goes for a submission but Vieira gets free.  Pepey lands an accidental kick to the groin.  Vieira is given time to recover.  The fight is restarted.  Pepey closes the distance and they clinch.  Vieira secures a takedown, but Pepey quickly gets back to his feet.  Pepey misses with a combination.  Vieira looks for a takedown at the bell. MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Vieira.

Round 2: Vieira  delivers a kick to the body to start the second round.  Pepey answers with a combination.  He lands a kick to the body but Vieira takes him down.  Pepey lands elbows from the bottom.  Pepey isolates an arm and works for a kimura.  Pepey gets the arm free.  He uses the kimura to get a reversal and lands in the mount position.  Vieira turns and gives up his back.  Pepey takes his back.  Pepey softens him up with punches.  He applies a body triangle.  Pepey delivers punches to the body.  Pepey pounds away on Vieira.  He works the body and then goes to the head.  Pepey goes for the rear naked choke, but the bell sounds.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Pepey.

Round 3: Pepey lands an outside leg kick.  Pepey pushes forward.  He shuffles his feet.  He lands a left hook.  Vieira steps in with a jab.  They exchange leg kicks.  Vieira delivers a solid right hand.  Pepey fires back.  Vieira lands another hard right hand.  Pepey clinches and Vieira delivers a knee to the body.  Pepey presses him against the cage.  Vieira locks on a kimura and drops down.  Pepey escapes the submission attempt but Vieira gains top position.  The referee stands them up with 90 seconds remaining.  Vieira lands a knee to the body.  Pepey moves in with a combination but Vieira drops down and secures a takedown.  Vieira works inside Pepey’s open guard.  Vieira postures up and lands shots in the closing seconds.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Vieira.

The judges score the fight or Pepey by split decision.  The scorecards read 29-28, 28-29, and 29-28.
