Diego Nunes vs. Nik Lentz

Round 1: They touch gloves.  They exchange leg kicks.  Lentz closes the distance and ties Nunes up.  He briefly gets Nunes down but Nunes immediately gets back to his feet.  Lentz stays on him and delivers knees to the thigh.  Lentz has a body lock.  He drags Nunes to the canvas but Nunes gets up only to be slammed down again.  Lentz mounts and Nunes rolls.  Lentz has Nunes’ back.  Lentz softens Nunes up with punches.  Nunes stands, but is taken back down.  Lentz lands short punches to the side of Nunes’ head.  Lentz continues to land punches.  Nunes stands but Lentz controls him and gets him back to the ground.  Nunes is unable to do anything.  Nunes stands again and gets taken down again.  Lentz lands punches to the body at the bell.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Lentz.

Round 2: They exchange leg kicks.  Lentz tries to tie Nunes up, but Nunes gets free. Nunes has his hands down.  He catches a kick of Lentz and fires off a right hand.  Lentz drives him across the cage and secures a takedown.  Lentz works inside Nunes’ half guard.  Lentz lands short elbows and knees to the body.  Lentz continues to work the body of Nunes.  He delivers a series of short left hands.  Lentz working the body of Nunes with punches, elbows and knees.  Lentz is in complete control.  Nunes rolls and Lentz takes his back.  Lentz lands short punches.  Nunes stands and they separate.  Nunes lands a right hand.  It may have hurt Lentz.  Lentz drops for a takedown and the round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Lentz.

Round 3: Nunes’ corner tells him not to throw kicks anymore.  Lentz moves forward.  Nunes throws a combination that misses.  They clinch and Nunes delivers a knee to the body before separating.  Nunes lands a right hand.  Lentz works to get the fight to the ground but Nunes fends it off.  Lentz lands a left hand and drops for a takedown.  He presses Nunes agaisnt the cage and takes him to the canvas.  Lentz works punches to the body and head.  He mixes in some elbows.  Nunes rolls and stands.  Lentz stays on him and works to take Nune’s back.  Nunes stands and gets tripped back down with two minutes left in the round.  Lentz lands in the mount position.  He lands left hands.  Nunes rolls and stands.  Lentz hangs on and lands knees to the legs.  Nunes gets free.  He lands a knee.  He flurries on Lentz, landing a combination.  Lentz works for a takedown and the round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Lentz.

The judges score the fight for Lentz by unanimous decision.  The official scorecards read 30-27, 30-28, and 30-26.
