UFC on FX 5 Medical Suspensions: Danny Castillo Out Indefinitely Following Brutal Knockout


Danny Castillo WEC 39The Minnesota Office of Combative Sports on Wednesday released the medical suspensions for UFC on FX 5: Browne vs. Bigfoot, which took place on Friday night at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn.

Headliner Travis Browne and undercard fighter Aaron Simpson both received mandatory 60-day suspensions for getting knocked out, but Danny Castillo received what is potentially the lengthiest suspension.

Like Browne and Simpson, Castillo was suspended for 60 days due to being knocked out by Michael Johnson, but was also suspended indefinitely, pending neurological clearance. He must wait 45 days prior to the neurological exam, but if cleared, can then return to the training and fighting.

UFC on FX 5 Medical Suspensions:

Travis Browne received a mandatory 30-day suspension with no contact for 14 days due to a TKO.

Jay Hieron received a mandatory 30-day suspension with no contact for 14 days due to lacerations.

Jussier “Formiga” da Silva received a mandatory 30-day suspension with no contact for 14 days due to a TKO.

Danny Castillo received a mandatory 60-day suspension with no contact for 45 days due to knockout, but is also suspended indefinitely until receiving neurological clearance. He must wait 45 days before having the neurological exam.

Aaron Simpson received a mandatory 60-day suspension with no contact for 45 days due to knockout.

Diego Nunes received a 45-day suspension with no contact for 30 days due to lacerations.

Bart Palaszewski received a 45-day suspension with no contact for 30 days due to lacerations and excessive blows to the head.

All other UFC on FX 5 fighters received Minnesota’s mandatory seven-day rest period following a mixed martial arts bout.
