TUF 14 alumnus “Super” Steven Siler proved how versatile he really is, winning his third straight fight in the UFC submitting the undefeated newcomer Joey Gambino at UFC on FX 4 in Atlantic City, N.J.
In the 25-year-old’s previous fight at UFC on FX 2 in Sydney, Siler looked to keep his distance against Cole Miller, avoiding exchanges on the inside, but Siler proved he isn’t a one-dimensional fighter against Gambino.
Siler used his Thai clinch to cut Gambino open with knees before taking him down to the mat softening up his foe with ground and pound before submitting him with a guillotine choke for his third straight UFC victory.
“I wanted to show everyone I’m not just a stand-up fighter,” said Siler post fight. “I have a ground game; I have everything. I feel like a complete fighter with a great camp behind me.”
The win will have other UFC featherweights on notice as the Pit Elevated Fight Team fighter announces himself as a future contender in the 145-pound division. A potential next fight for Siler could be his original opponent at UFC on FX 4, the undefeated, Jimy Hettes who was forced to withdraw with an injury.
But who does Siler want next? ”Whoever wants to let me go 4-1.”
