STOCKHOLM – MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) was on scene for today’s official “UFC on FUEL TV 9: Mousasi vs. Latifi” fighter weigh-ins, where all 26 competitors successfully made weight for Saturday’s card.
Things got heated on more than one occasion.
The night’s main event provided few fireworks as UFC newcomers Gegard Mousasi (204 pounds) and Ilir Latifi (206) each showed litle emotion while making their bout official. The same, though, could not be said for many of the night’s other fighters. Brief dust-ups occurred in both the Michael Johnson vs. Reza Madadi and Marcus Brimage vs. Conor McGregor contests.
Tom Lawlor also tapped his creative side in staging his time on the scale. Borrowing a now-famous line from recent welterweight title challenger Nick Diaz, Lawlor briefly donned a wolf mask and passed out “wolf tickets” to UFC staff members on the stage.
Friday’s weigh-ins took place at Stockholm’s Ericsson Globe Arena, the same venue that hosts Saturday’s card. UFC on FUEL TV 9's main card airs on FUEL TV (2 p.m. ET) following prelims on Facebook (10:30 a.m. ET). A healthy crowd was rowdy throughout the affair, and despite the disappointment of losing Swedish fighter Alexander Gustafsson in the evening’s main event, the fans showed strong support of all of their countrymen competing on the card.
