A lightweight bout has been added to the UFC on FOX 8 between Ultimate Fighter veterans Mac Danzig (21-10-1 MMA, 5-6), winner of TUF 6 and season 2 member Melvin Guillard (30-12-2 MMA, 11-8 UFC).
UFC on FOX 8 will be held on July 27 at KeyArena in Seattle, Washington.
Guillard has competed in the UFC from November 5, 2005 where he fought and won Marcus Davis by TKO (cut) in the second round at The Ultimate Fighter 2 Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada. During his career he even had a five-fight win streak, but eventually lost to Joe Lauzon by submission (rear-naked choke) just 47 seconds into the match at UFC 136 on October 8, 2011 in Houston, Texas. “The young Assasin” also earned two “Knockout of the Night” awards. However he has lost his two last fights to Donald Cerrone by KO (head kick & punch) in the beginning of round one at UFC 150 in August 11, 2012 in Denver, Colorado and to Jamie Varner in his last fight by split decision at UFC 155 on December 29 last year in Las Vegas, Nevada.
One time PRIDE FC fighter Danzig experienced some bad luck after his submission-win (rear-naked choke) over Tom Speer in round one at The Ultimate Fighter: Team Hughes vs. Team Serra Finale on December 8, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, what made him the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 6 competition. He then had a three-fight loss streak and now has 6-5 in the UFC. However the TUF 6 winner has one “Knockout of the Night” and a total of three “Fight of the Night” awards, one coming from his last fight where he lost to Japanese MMA star Takanori Gomi by split decision at UFC on Fuel TV: Franklin vs. Le on November 10 last year in Cotai Strip, Macau, China.
