SAN JOSE, Calif. – MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) was on scene and reporting live from today’s UFC on FOX 7 fighter weigh-ins at California Theatre in San Jose, Calif., where all fighters hit their marks.
In the main event, UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson (18-2 MMA, 6-0 UFC) and final Strikeforce lightweight titleholder Gilbert Melendez (21-2 MMA, 11-1 SF, 0-0 UFC) each were on their marks for the night’s FOX-televised main event. Melendez came in a pound under the title-fight maximum at 154 pounds. Henderson, as he typically does, asked for the towel straight away, then made 155 on the button.
In the co-main event, Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix champ Daniel Cormier (11-0 MMA, 8-0 SF) meets former UFC heavyweight champ Frank Mir (16-6 MMA, 14-6 UFC). Mir will have a weight advantage over the Olympic wrestler, coming in at 257 pounds to Cormier’s 235.
UFC on FOX 7 takes place Saturday at HP Pavilion in San Jose. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook.
