UFC on FOX 22's Mickey Gall already has his next callout ready to go

SACRAMENTO – Mickey Gall certainly seems to have no shortage of confidence.

The 24-year-old made his way into the UFC after calling out Phil “CM Punk” Brooks after a win on the regional scene, a moment filmed as part of UFC President Dana White’s “Lookin’ For A Fight” web series. A win over Mike Jackson got Gall (3-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) the fight he wanted. It only took until the 2:14 mark of Round 1 for Gall to finish off Punk.

After the victory, Gall moved on to his next callout, asking for a fight against 20-year-old phenom Sage Northcutt (8-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC). Now, he and Northcutt will share the cage at Saturday’s UFC on FOX 22 event, serving as the welterweight co-main event at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif. The card airs on FOX following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

While he had this path in his mind, Gall admitted surprise that it’s worked out so well – and so fast – for him.

“I really didn’t think it would go like this,” Gall told MMAjunkie today at the open workouts. “I’ll take it, man. I’m running with it now. I’m having fun. Remember, I asked for this fight for a reason. I asked for this fight for a reason. I have this boy.

“… My first two opponents weren’t UFC caliber guys. Now I’m really excited to show I’m UFC caliber and start beating UFC caliber guys.”

Calling his shots has worked well for Gall to this point.

So, is he ready with the next name on his list, should he get by Northcutt.

“Heck yeah,” Gall said. “Remember last time, after the last one I said you’ve just got to wait to see who I call out next. You’ve got to watch FOX.

“This one, I’ll tell you, the Sage one I had in mind for a while. Before the CM Punk fight, before the Jackson fight. This one is kind of new. I came up with this one in the past few weeks.”
