UFC on FOX 19 post-fight facts: Insane winning streak for Nurmagomedov stays alive

Saturday’s UFC on FOX 19 card was ravaged by injuries and fight changes. However, the FOX-televised card at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., produced some eventful outcomes, with seven of 11 fights ending inside the distance.

Glover Teixeira (25-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) was among the shining stars of the night. He stopped former UFC champion Rashad Evans (19-5-1 MMA, 14-5-1 UFC) with a first-round knockout in a victory that further built his profile as one of MMA’s top light heavyweights.

Teixeira’s three-fight UFC winning streak in light-heavyweight competition is tied for the second longest active streak in the division behind Jon Jones (12).

Teixeira has earned seven of his eight UFC victories by stoppage.

Evans has suffered back-to-back losses for the first time in his career. He hasn’t earned a victory since November 2013.

Evans suffered his first knockout loss since May 23, 2009 – a span of 2,520 days (nearly seven years) and 10 fights.

Evans’ defeat at the 1:48 mark of Round 1 marked the second shortest fight of his career behind his 50-second pro debut win in April 2004.

Rose Namajunas

Rose Namajunas’ (5-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) three-fight UFC winning streak in strawweight competition is the second longest active streak in the division behind champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk (five).

Namajunas earned the first decision victory of her career.

Tecia Torres (7-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) had her seven-fight winning streak snapped for the first defeat of her professional career.

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s (23-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) 23-fight MMA winning streak is the longest among active UFC fighters.

Nurmagomedov has earned three of his seven UFC victories by stoppage.

Darrell Horcher (12-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) suffered the first knockout loss of his career.

Cub Swanson’s (22-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC) 12 victories in UFC/WEC featherweight competition are tied for second most in combined divisional history behind Jose Aldo (15).

Swanson’s two knockdowns landed give him six total in his UFC featherweight career, tied for the most in divisional history.

Hacran Dias (23-4-1 MMA, 3-3 UFC) has suffered all four of his career losses by decision.

Michael Chiesa

Chiesa (14-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) has earned five of his seven UFC victories by submission.

Chiesa’s five submission victories in UFC competition since 2012 are tied for second most in the company behind Charles Oliveira (six).

Chiesa’s five submission victories via rear-naked choke in UFC competition are tied with Demian Maia for second most in company history behind Kenny Florian (seven).

Beneil Dariush (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) suffered the first submission loss of his career.

Bethe Correia (9-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has suffered back-to-back losses after starting her career on a nine-fight winning streak.

Correia suffered the first decision loss of her career.

Santiago Ponzinibbio

Santiago Ponzinibbio (22-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) has earned 19 of his 22 career victories by stoppage. He has earned 15 of those finishes in the first round.

Court McGee (17-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC) fell to 1-1 since he returned from a nearly two-year layoff in December.

McGee fell to 3-2 since he dropped to the welterweight division in February 2013.

McGee suffered the first knockout loss of his career.

Michael Graves (6-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has earned five of his six career victories by stoppage.

Randy Brown (7-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) had his seven-fight winning streak snapped for the first defeat of his pro career.

John Dodson

John Dodson (18-7 MMA, 7-2 UFC) was successful in his return to the UFC bantamweight division. He’s 2-0 in the UFC at the weight class.

Dodson has earned five of his six UFC victories by knockout.

Manny Gamburyan (15-10 MMA, 6-8 UFC) fell to 2-1 since he dropped to the UFC bantamweight division in September 2014.

Gamburyan fell to 4-5 since making his return to the UFC for a second stint in June 2011.

Gamburyan suffered his first knockout loss since Sept. 30, 2010 – a span of 2,025 days (more than five years) and nine fights.
