UFC on FOX 11 results, photos: Khabib Nurmagomedov stays unbeaten, tops Rafael dos Anjos

ORLANDO – You had to look fast during the pre-fight introductions, because it was the last chance you had to see Rafael dos Anjos without Kahbib Nurmagomedov stuck to him in violent fashion.

Despite a game effort by the Brazilian, Nurmagomedov dominated dos Anjos for the full three rounds, resulting in a unanimous decision victory (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) for “The Eagle.”

The lightweight bout closed out the preliminary card of today’s UFC on FOX 11 event at Amway Center in Orlando, Fla. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX.

Constant and unrelenting pressure was the name of the game for Nurmagomedov. From the moment the bout began, he suffocated dos Anjos with takedowns and punches, battering his opponent on the feet and on the floor. Though dos Anjos didn’t go down easy, he was unable to get any offense going against Nurmagomedov, and was forced instead to put his faith in doomed submission attempts off his back.

If Nurmagomedov was worried about those, however, he gave no sign. The periodic guillotine choke attempts marked only a temporary reprieve for dos Anjos, as Nurmagomedov resumed his assault immediately upon escape, making things easy on the judges, who saw it unanimously for Nurmagomedov.

“I began the fight conserving energy to make sure I was ready to go the distance because I knew how tough dos Anjos was,” Nurmagomedov said. “He was a very tough guy. I’m very glad that I got the opportunity to fight him because I always want to fight the best. I’m ready to keep going forward in the division on my way to the title.”

The loss for dos Anjos (20-7 MMA, 9-5 UFC) snaps a five-fight winning streak. Nurmagomedov (22-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) remains unbeaten in his pro career.
