UFC on FOX 10 start times, fight card, TV info, fan and media events, video preview

The UFC returns to Chicago for the third straight January with a lightweight contenders fight in the main event at UFC on FOX 10.

Here’s the essential information for the card.

UFC on FOX 10 START TIME: UFC on FOX 10 takes place Saturday at United Center in Chicago. The event kicks off with a single prelims on UFC Fight Pass at 4:30 p.m. ET (1:30 p.m. PT), followed by six more prelims on FOX Sports 1 (5 p.m. ET) and the four-fight main card at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.

UFC on FOX 10 BACKGROUND: Josh Thomson (20-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC) was set to fight Anthony Pettis for the lightweight title this past fall. But a Pettis injury put him on the shelf. Instead, Thomson now will fight Benson Henderson (19-3 MMA, 6-0 UFC), who returns for the first time since losing the 155-pound belt to Pettis in August. It’s an ex-champ vs. ex-champ fight in that Henderson held the UFC belt (as well as the WEC title), while Thomson once had the Strikeforce crown. A heavyweight tilt is on tap for the co-main event as former title challenger Gabriel Gonzaga (16-7 MMA, 11-6 UFC) takes on Stipe Miocic (10-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC). Also on the main card on FOX, Donald Cerrone (21-6 MMA, 8-3 UFC) meets Adriano Martins (25-6 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at lightweight, while Darren Elkins (17-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC), from nearby Northwest Indiana, takes on Iowa native Jeremy Stephens (22-9 MMA, 9-8 UFC).

UFC on FOX 10 ‘ULTIMATE MEDIA DAY’ THURSDAY: All eight fighters on the main card will be on hand for an “Ultimate Media Day” to meet members of the press. UFC on FOX 10 WEIGH-INS FRIDAY: Friday’s UFC on FOX 10 fighter weigh-ins take place at the historic Chicago Theatre. You can watch a live video stream here at MMAjunkie or get text-only results beginning at 5 p.m. ET (2 p.m. PT). We’ll also have a video replay and full photo gallery available afterward. The weigh-ins are free and open to the public, with doors opening at 3 p.m. CT local time. Prior to the public weigh-ins, members of the UFC Fight Club can attend a Q&A session with flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson at 2 p.m. CT. Doors for that event open to Fight Club members at 1:30 p.m. CT.
