UFC champ Ronda Rousey and Mark Wahlberg set to co-star in 'Mile 22'

Ronda Rousey’s film career appears set to continue with “Mile 22,” a film starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Peter Berg, according to “The Hollywood Reporter.”

Rousey has been making a small splash on the big screen in recent years with appearances in “The Expendables 3,” “Furious 7? and “Entourage.” In “Mile 22? she’ll star with Wahlberg, as well as Iko Uwais, the Indonesian star of “The Raid: Redemption” and its sequel.

The film’s plot, according to the report, revolves around “a CIA agent (Wahlberg) stationed in Indonesia who is tasked with transporting a compromised informant from the center of the city to an awaiting getaway plane at an airport 22 miles away.

“While en route, they must battle corrupt police, criminal overlords and heavily armed locals, all hellbent on taking them out before they reach their plane.”

Rousey (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) is currently preparing to defend her UFC women’s bantamweight championship against Bethe Correia (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) in the pay-per-view main event of UFC 190. The event takes place Aug. 1 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro in Correia’s home country of Brazil.

The champion has previously said she believes her future is in film. She said she has two years of fighting left in her and that movies provide the opportunity to “do something similar (to fighting), but in a space where I don’t have to worry about dying.”
