UFC Will Return to Australia in 2013 for Another Edition of TUF and At Least One Live Event

Ben Alloway vs Valentino HenescuIt’s too soon to commit to anything more, but UFC executive Marshall Zelaznik on Friday night confirmed that Australia will see at least one live event in 2013.

The one guaranteed event will, like UFC on FX 6, coincide with another Australian edition of The Ultimate Fighter.

“We’re looking at the same schedule as we had this year,” Zelaznik said of the next Aussie version of TUF. “We don’t know if it will be The Smashes; we’re not sure if it will be country versus country. Those are some of the things we’ll work out with the executives at FX.”

The series will obviously culminate in another live event, however, to feature the finalists from the show, and possibly another coach vs. coach showdown.

With details of the next Aussie TUF still up in the air, it’s also to soon to give specific details on exactly when and where the live event will take place. But it will take place, and quite possibly, could be joined by other events if scheduling works out.

“We’ve got one calendared basically a year from now,” said Zelaznik. “We’re always looking and juggling our calendar; we could get another one. Obviously, we had two this year.

“We know the market can take four or six events, it’s just a matter of trying to get them here, but definitely one and hopefully more than one.”

There will be an event in December to coincide with the TUF series at a location to be determined, and that location could quite literally be almost anywhere in the country.

“We’re looking at all the venues. I think we’re holding venues throughout the country and then just see how the schedule works out.”

Much like Canada and Brazil before them, the Aussie fans are clamoring for more events than the UFC can currently promise, but rest assured the Octagon will return to the Land Down Under in 2013.

Sounds like Montreal mixed martial arts fans will have to wait a little longer for the UFC's return to the Bell Centre. Will he or won't he? You'll have to watch Inside MMA on AXS TV to find out. Unless he's moving up to middleweight, Georges St. Pierre probably isn't coming back to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) before year's end, unless stuffing your face with a creamy cone is the latest fad in mixed martial arts (MMA) weight management. Not that I'm judging, mind you. The good news is, we may finally find out if and when the former 170-pound kingpin will make his return to the cage, as "Rush" is schedule more

UFC fans have grown spoiled over the years. This is not debatable. It is fact. Diehard fans of any sport will find a way to argue anything, and I am being quite literal in my usage of the term "literal." You have a personal list of your own favorite fighters? You can be certain that someone is waiting around the bend, salivating for a chance to tell you why you are a wrong-headed idiot. There is no such thing as personal preference in fandom, because your preference might be different than the g more

Dan Henderson will return to the middleweight division. Following a one-sided loss to Dan Cormier at UFC 173, "Hendo" has decided to cut down to 185 pounds for his next UFC bout, Henderson’s muay thai coach Daniel Woirin told MMAFighting.com on Tuesday. Henderson, who weighed in at 199 pounds for his light heavyweight bout with Cormier in May, won only two of his six fights since returning to the UFC as a light heavyweight in 2011. Both wins came against former champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. He more

Georges St-Pierre is the former UFC welterweight champion and is one of the most dominant champions in UFC history. St-Pierre has held the title twice and defended it a total of nine times.
