TUF 17 Finale Poster-478x270The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale continued the UFC’s streak of setting TV ratings records for Fuel TV.

The TUF 17 Finale Prelims on Fuel TV on Saturday delivered the highest rated UFC prelims of all time for the network, drawing 269,000 total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. It was also Fuel TV’s second most-watched program of all time falling short only to the UFC on Fuel TV 8: Silva vs. Stann main card, which aired live on the network to an audience of 485,000 in March.

The TUF 17 Finale Prelims audience of 269,000 dwarfed that of the TUF 16 Finale Prelims, which drew 96,000 viewers in December.

Even the TUF 17 Finale weigh-in cover on Friday set high marks, drawing 126,000 viewers. It was the third most-watched UFC weigh-in in network history.

The Ultimate Fighter will move to FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports’ newly minted multi-sport national cable channel, when it returns in September. The next installment, featuring UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and challenger Cat Zingano as coaches, also moves to Wednesday evening at 10 p.m. ET.

FS1 launches Saturday, Aug. 17, and season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter premieres Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 10 p.m. ET.

UFC 175 and The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale had a lot to offer. There were two title fights, both spectacular in their own right. Other fighters like Justin Scoggins and Dustin Ortiz also made a name for themselves. Crowds both nights seemed to be genuinely enthusiasic. There were problems, too. Judging was sketchy a number of times, a legend was forcibly mauled into retirement, and a fighter had a health scare backstage. It's time to separate the winners from the losers, the best from the worst more

Check out the bout order for the TUF 19 Finale on Sunday, which is headlined by a 3rd meeting between Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn. It is not my place to talk about the quality of TUF 19, because the only episode I watched was Cathal Pendred versus Eddie Gordon, and I don't need to see it again. See who the Bloody Elbow staff is picking for Sunday's TUF 19 Finale at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. B.J. Penn vs. Frankie Edgar Mookie Alexander: For all intents and purposes, it's 1-1 heading into the 3rd fight, because scoring the 1st fight for Edgar MUCH LESS 50-45 is criminal. Alas, the record stands as 2-0 and the 2nd fight made it abundantly clear how much better Edgar has become compared to Penn. Unless Edgar has hit a sharp decline or Penn really is rejuvenated on the 19 more
