UFC welterweight contender Hector Lombard tested positive for anabolic steroids following his UFC 182 victory over Josh Burkman on Jan. 3 in Las Vegas. MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday confirmed news of the test result with Nevada Athletic Commission executive director Bob Bennett.
Prior to the test result becoming public, UFC officials pulled Lombard’s fight with Rory MacDonald from the UFC 186 fight card. The bout was supposed to serve as the co-main event at the April 25 event in Montreal.

The specific steroid that Lombard tested positive for was Desoxymethyltestosterone, commonly known as Madol.
“Madol has rightfully earned a solid reputation for being an extremely potent muscle and strength gaining oral steroid that is 60-percent more anabolic (muscle building) than testosterone, yet only 60-percent as androgenic (impacting male sex characteristics),” according to Steroid.com.
Late Tuesday evening, the Ultimate Fighting Championship issued the following statement regarding Lombard’s test result coming up positive for steroids.
“The UFC has been notified by the Nevada State Athletic Commission that UFC welterweight Hector Lombard has tested positive for a banned substance following his fight at UFC 182: Jones vs. Cormier on Jan. 3, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nev. The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by our athletes. As a result of his positive test, Lombard has been informed that he has violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC. The UFC will cooperate with the commission on the matter and fully supports Lombard’s right to a due process hearing before the commission.”
