The list, which includes notable names like Daniel Cormier, Gegard Mousasi, middleweight champion Luke Rockhold and lightweight king Gilbert Melendez, was revealed during the most recent episode of “UFC Tonight” on Fuel TV.
Strikeforce held its last show on Jan. 12 at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City and will now shutter its doors. The event was headlined by Tarec Saffiedine’s welterweight title-winning performance over Nate Marquardt and also saw Cormier, Mousasi, Josh Barnett and Ronaldo Souza pick up victories during the evening’s Showtime-broadcast main card. Both “Jacare” and Marquardt will join the UFC roster, but Barnett’s fate remains unknown.
Also of note, Roger Gracie, Tim Kennedy and Lorenz Larkin are headed to the UFC’s middleweight division, while Pat Healy, Josh Thomson and Ryan Couture are expected to compete in the Octagon at 155 pounds. Gracie, Kennedy, Healy and Couture all earned wins at Strikeforce’s final show. Despite suffering hard-fought decision defeats, both Kurt Holobaugh and K.J. Noons will also join the UFC lightweight roster.
