The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has nominated “UFC Presents Ronda Rousey: Breaking Ground” for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Sports Documentary.

The hour-long doc aired last September on Fox Sports 1 and focused on Rousey’s rapid ascent from elite judoka to UFC champion, as well the personal obstacles she has navigated to become one MMA’s most popular fighters.

Rousey’s documentary is one of four nominated for the award, which will be given out May 6 at the Time Warner Center in New York City. The other nominees are Showtime’s “LT: The Life and Times,” NBC’s “First: The Official Film of the London Olympic Games” and NBA TV’s “The Doctor.”

Rousey, 27, made her pro MMA debut in 2011 after winning a bronze medal in judo at the 2008 Beijing games. “Rowdy” rattled off seven consecutive first-round finishes to start her career and has thus far defended her UFC belt three times. The champion last stepped into the Octagon on Feb. 22, stopping fellow Olympic medalist Sara McMann with a knee to the body at UFC 170.
