R1: Sakara whips off a nice leg kick followed by a quick combination. Weidman looks for a takedown, but Sakara shrugs him off. Weidman seems comfortable striking with Sakara, but he backs him off with another rapid fire combo sending Weidman to look for the takedown. Sakara snaps off some quick body punches and Weidman looks for the knee. Sakara cut over his right eye from one of the exchanges.

R2: Weidman slips under and gets a slick single leg takedown, landing in Sakara’s full guard. Weidman hitting some big shots from the ground, and moves to side control. Sakara is bleeding bad from a cut on his forehead. Weidman still in control, but not doing much damage at this point. Sakara is able to regain half guard, and then slips out and gets back to the feet. Weidman clinches and gets another takedown, and Sakara slips back up again. The ref pauses the fight to check the cut on Sakara’s head, fight continues. Sakara working to the body as the round end.

R3: Sakara still looking for body shots, Weidman tries for a knee but misses. Weidman gets a leg, and takes Sakara to the mat. Weidman in side control hitting short punches with Sakara just playing defense. Ref stands them back up after a lack of action on the ground. Weidman goes for another takedown against the cage. Sakara pops up for a second, but Weidman gets him right back down again.
