UFC Institutes ‘Performance of the Night’ to Replace Knockout, Submission Bonuses

The default amount for post-fight bonuses will remain $50,000, and “Fight of the Night” will still be given to the two competitors who put on the most entertaining bout.

“Effective immediately, UFC will award ‘Fight of the Night’ bonuses to each of the fighters in the best fight of the night, as well as additional ‘Performance of the Night’ bonuses to the two best individual performances on the card,” the UFC’s statement read. “The bonus amounts will remain $50,000. The ‘Performance of Night’ bonuses will reward the athletes who put on the best and most exciting individual performances.”

The UFC standardized $50,000 as the amount for post-fight bonuses in 2013. However, that amount has occasionally fluctuated, as it did earlier this month at UFC 169, when Jamie Varner and Abel Trujillo each pocketed $75,000 for their lightweight “Fight of the Night.”
