UFC Fight Pass May Eventually Offer Metamoris Grappling Competitions

Dana WhiteOver the weekend, MMAWeekly.com reported that recently retired UFC fighter Chael Sonnen and current UFC heavyweight Josh Barnett are expected to participate on the upcoming Metamoris 4 professional grappling event on Aug. 9 in Los Angels.

Sonnen is slated to headline the event opposite Andre Galvao, while Barnett is expected to face Dean Lister.

Recent Metamoris events have been available for viewing via an online pay-per-view streaming service, but it’s not out of the question that subscribers of the UFC’s new Fight Pass digital service might soon be able to watch Metamoris events.

While UFC Fight Pass was originally an idea to offer the UFC’s full library of past fights to fans for on-demand viewing, it quickly morphed into something much more, offering live UFC events.

Taking it a step further, the UFC recently struck a deal to air the all-women’s MMA promotion Invicta FC. UFC president Dana White recently said that was just the tip of the iceberg for what is to come as they continue to evolve Fight Pass offerings.

Metamoris could soon join Invicta FC as one of the non-Zuffa-owned properties that might eventually appear on Fight Pass.

“(Metamoris) is absolutely something we’d look at for Fight Pass,” said White in a recent video interview with mma-in-asia.com. “I think people would really be surprised by the things that are gonna pop up on Fight Pass.

“It started out as a way to give the library to all the fans and it just keeps evolving and it’s only gonna get better and better.”

White did not comment on whether or not the UFC was yet in talks with Metamoris or if Metamoris 4 might become available to UFC Fight Pass subscribers.
