UFC Fight Night 98 weigh-in results: Charles Oliveira badly misses weight, but fight still on

MEXICO CITY – MMAjunkie was on scene and reporting live from today’s early UFC Fight Night 98 fighter weigh-ins, where two fighters missed weight.

The early weigh-ins, which precede this evening’s ceremonial affair, took place at JW Marriott Hotel Mexico City. The ceremonial weigh-ins take place at 6 p.m. ET at Mexico City Arena, which also hosts Saturday’s FS1-televised event.

Despite weighing 155 pounds – nine pounds over the 146-pound featherweight limit – Charles Oliveira’s (21-6 MMA, 9-6 UFC) fight with Ricardo Lamas (16-5 MMA, 7-3 UFC) is still a go. However, Oliveira has been fined 30 percent of his purse, which goes to Lamas, and he’s not permitted to weigh more than 165 pounds on fight night.

Felipe Arantes (18-7-1 MMA, 5-3-1 UFC) also missed weight – he was two pounds over the 136-pound limit – and was fined 20 percent of his purse, which goes to opponent Erik Perez (16-6 MMA, 6-2 UFC).
