UFC Fight Night 96 draws announced 6,240 fans in Portland for $501,035 live gate

PORTLAND, Ore. – Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 96 event drew an announced attendance of 6,240 and a live gate of $501,035.

UFC officials announced the tallies after the event, which took place at Moda Center in Portland, Ore. The main card aired on FS1 following prelims on FS2 and UFC Fight Pass.

UFC Fight Night 96 was just the second UFC event in Oregon history.

The first, UFC 102, took place in August 2009 at the same venue (then known as the Rose Garden). With an Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Randy Couture heavyweight headliner and Thiago Silva vs. Keith Jardine light-heavyweight co-headliner, the pay-per-view event drew 16,088 attendees for a $1.92 million gate.

In Saturday’s main event, John Lineker (29-7 MMA, 10-2 UFC) topped former two-time flyweight title challenger John Dodson (18-8 MMA, 7-3 UFC) in a bantamweight fight. Lineker won the back-and-forth slugfest by split decision – though he was not eligible for a fight-night bonus award because he missed weight. It was Lineker’s record fifth weight infraction in the UFC, but first since moving up from flyweight to bantamweight.
