UFC Fight Night 89 tickets on sale this week for a big welterweight showdown

Planning to attend UFC Fight Night 89 in June? You can buy your tickets starting this week.

UFC Fight Night 89 takes place June 18 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It’s expected to air on FOX Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

The card features a showdown that could help crown the next contender for the welterweight title.

Rory MacDonald (18-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC) will face off with Stephen Thompson (12-1MMA, 7-1 UFC) in the main event while Donald Cerrone (29-7 MMA, 16-4 UFC) and Patrick Cote (23-9 MMA, 10-9 UFC) meet in the welterweight co-main event.

MacDonald gets back into the promotion’s octagon for the first time since a “Fight of the Year” candidate at this past July’s UFC 189, which saw him surge ahead against champ Robbie Lawler only to suffer a badly broken nose and succumb to strikes in the fifth and final frame. He is currently ranked No. 2 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA welterweight rankings.

No. 5 ranked Thompson is coming off a career-best TKO win over Johny Hendricks at UFC Fight Night 82. It was Thompson’s sixth straight win in the UFC and seventh overall in the promotion.

Ticket prices for the event have not yet been announced. However, tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday at 10 a.m. ET via Capital Tickets. UFC.com e-newsletter subscribers can buy their seats on Thursday at 10 a.m. ET, and UFC Fight Club members can purchase tickets as of today at 10 a.m. ET.
