LAS VEGAS – It wasn’t pretty, but Roy Nelson couldn’t necessarily afford pretty. What he needed was a win.
Nelson (21-12 MMA, 8-8 UFC) did something he hadn’t done in nearly nine years in the UFC Fight Night 82 co-main event on Saturday: He won a fight by going to the judges’ scorecards. Nelson took a unanimous decision from Jared Rosholt (14-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC), giving him his first decision victory since 2007.
The fight was the co-feature of UFC Fight Night 82 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Nelson spent much of the fight being careful of Rosholt’s wrestling, and Rosholt spent it being careful of Nelson’s striking. Check out the video above for highlights from the fight.
