UFC Fight Night 78 open workouts: Welcome to the Diego Sanchez Show

MONTERREY, Mexico – If you’ve ever attended a UFC open-workout session, you’ve hopefully gone to one that included UFC veteran Diego Sanchez.

Sanchez (25-7 MMA, 14-7 UFC), who meets featherweight Ricardo Lamas (15-4 MMA, 6-2 UFC) in Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 78 co-headliner, always puts on a show. While many fighters give a light workout and a few quick interviews, Sanchez always goes all out, with a lengthy stretching/workout session and spirited interviews, as well as plenty of interaction with fans and even a motivational speech or two.

Check out the highlights of Wednesday’s open workouts above.

UFC Fight Night 78 takes place at Monterrey Arena in Monterrey, Mexico. After early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, the remainder of the card airs on FOX Sports 1.

In addition to Sanchez and Lamas, the workouts include welterweight headliners Kelvin Gastelum (11-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and Neil Magny (16-4 MMA, 9-3 UFC),  main-card flyweight Henry Cejudo (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC), main-card lightweight Efrain Escudero (24-9 MMA, 5-5 UFC) and prelim fighter Erik Perez (14-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC).
