The sickening thud that followed when C.B. Dollaway took a kick from ex-champ Lyoto Machida in this past Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 58 headliner could bench him for six months.
Dollaway needs doctor clearance of his right rib, or he is suspended for six months, according to medical suspensions released today by the Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA) for the event at Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
All 24 fighters received at least a two-week term, though most were longer. The bulk of UFC Fight Night 58’s fight card aired live on FOX Sports 1 following a short prelim card on UFC Fight Pass. The event took place at Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The card was overseen by CABMMA, which regulates UFC events held in Brazil.
It took just 62 seconds for Dollaway to crumple to the mat after Machida landed his kick. Dollaway did not land a significant strike before the fight was over.
In the night’s co-main event, ex-bantamweight champ Renan Barao and Mitch Gagnon were both given one-month suspensions for a tough fight, won by Brazil’s Barao via unanimous decision.
In addition to Dollaway’s potentially lengthy term, Mike Rhodes was suspended for up to six months unless his right hand is cleared by a doctor, and Marcio Alexandre Jr. needs clearance on his left hand.
