BANGOR, Maine – Tim Boetsch, Thiago Tavares, Alan Jouban and Seth Baczynski each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 47 event.
Jouban and Baczynski earned the “Fight of the Night,” while Boetsch and Tavares each won “Performance of the Night” honors.
UFC President Dana White announced the winners at the night’s post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie attended.
Boetsch (18-7 MMA, 9-6 UFC) rallied against Brad Tavares (12-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC), snatching victory from the jaws of defeat to get a third-round knockout in front of his home fans in Maine.
Thiago Tavares (19-5-1 MMA, 8-6-1 UFC) made a successful debut in the featherweight division by stopping Robbie Peralta (18-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in the first round with a rear-naked choke.
Jouban (10-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made an impressive UFC debut with his knockout of Baczynski (19-12 MMA, 5-5 UFC). The fight didn’t make it out of the first round, but it was the back-and-forth nature that won UFC President Dana White over, who said it was a tough decision to pick the “Fight of the Night” winner.
UFC Fight Night 47 took place at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. The main card aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 2.
